Ingredients

Scale

Chicken & Toast

  • 4 lightly breaded chicken filets (cooked according to package directions)
  • 8 pieces Texas toast (cooked according to package directions)

Cheese & Sauce

  • 8 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 4 tablespoons marinara
  • 4 tablespoons parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Texas Toast: Cook the Texas toast slices according to the package directions until they are nicely toasted. Once done, switch your oven setting to Broil on HIGH and allow it to preheat in preparation for melting the cheese later.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Cook the lightly breaded chicken filets as per the package instructions until they are fully cooked and crispy.
  3. Assemble the Open-Faced Sandwiches: Spread 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce evenly on each piece of the cooked Texas toast. Then, sprinkle ½ tablespoon of parmesan cheese on top of the marinara.
  4. Add Chicken & Cheese: Place one cooked chicken filet on each piece of Texas toast. Then, place 2 slices of fresh mozzarella over the chicken and sprinkle the rest of the parmesan cheese on top for extra flavor and cheesiness.
  5. Broil Until Melty: Position the assembled open-faced sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil them under HIGH heat for 4–5 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly, melted, and slightly golden.
  6. Add Fresh Basil & Complete Sandwich: Remove the sandwiches from the oven, garnish with freshly chopped basil for an aromatic finish, then top each with another piece of Texas toast to form a complete sandwich.
  7. Serve & Enjoy: Serve the Chicken Parmesan Sandwiches immediately while hot and enjoy the rich layers of flavors and textures.

Notes

  • Ensure you do not leave the sandwiches unattended under the broiler as the cheese can burn quickly.
  • Fresh basil adds a bright, fresh flavor but can be substituted with dried basil if necessary.
  • For extra crispiness, consider lightly buttering the tops of the Texas toast before broiling.
  • You can use homemade or store-bought marinara sauce based on your preference.
  • These sandwiches are best enjoyed right after assembling and broiling for the best texture.
