Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe avocado
  • ½ cup greek yogurt
  • 1 small clove of garlic
  • ½ lemon – juice
  • ½ cup cilantro leaves – or parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocado: Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a blender or food processor. Add Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, cilantro, salt, and pepper.
  2. Blend the ingredients: Blend all the ingredients until smooth.
  3. Adjust the seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning. You can add more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if needed. Add a tablespoon or two of water or olive oil to thin the sauce, if required.
  4. Serve or store: Use the avocado sauce immediately as a dip, spread, or topping for various dishes. If not serving immediately, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Note 1 – Customize it: Feel free to customize the sauce to your liking by adding additional ingredients such as lime juice, jalapeño for heat, or a dash of cumin for extra flavor. If you are not a cilantro lover, swap it for parsley or basil!
  • Note 2 – Thin it out: If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a tablespoon or two of water or olive oil while blending.
  • How to store: To prevent the sauce from browning, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the sauce before sealing the container. Stored this way, it should last in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. However, avocado-based sauces are best enjoyed fresh, as they may lose their vibrant color and flavor over time. Don’t freeze it as the texture and flavor change.
