Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine flour and cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice-cold water until the dough holds together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Step 2: Prepare your filling by finely chopping cooked meats or vegetables and mixing with spices.
  3. Step 3: Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into circles.
  4. Step 4: Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle, fold over the dough, and seal edges using fingers or a fork.
  5. Step 5: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange hand pies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
