  • 1 inch fresh ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract {or almond extract}
  • 1 cup sliced or silvered almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat the oven to 375 F and grease a 9 inch circular baking pan with butter.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add flour, baking powder, ginger, sugar and salt. Combine all together.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Now add butter, egg, honey, milk and vanilla extract. Mix into a smooth batter.
  4. Prepare for baking: Pour the batter in a baking pan and sprinkle sliced almonds on it without leaving any empty space.
  5. Bake: Bake in the oven for 60 minutes.
  6. Check doneness: Double check with a skewer or toothpick if the middle is cooked through before removing from the oven. Skewer must come out clean.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the cake cool down before slicing and serving. Serve with more honey if desired.
