- 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup smoked brisket, chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
- Prepare ingredients: Chop the smoked brisket into bite-sized pieces. Finely dice the onion, mince garlic, and seed and chop the jalapeño to your preferred heat level.
- Sauté aromatics: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat in a Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add the onion and jalapeño, cooking until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
